Question 1

What is ARAM Companion?

Accepted Answer

ARAM Companion is a desktop overlay tool for League of Legends ARAM mode. It uses screen capture (OCR) technology to scan your game in real-time and provides champion tier ratings, augment recommendations, and build guides — all without requiring any manual input from you.

Question 2

Is ARAM Companion free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, ARAM Companion is completely free. There are no ads, no paywalls, and no premium tiers. We believe every ARAM player deserves a fair advantage.

Question 3

Is ARAM Companion allowed by Riot Games?

Accepted Answer

ARAM Companion uses screen capture (OCR) technology and does not interact with or modify the game client in any way. It reads what's on your screen — similar to having a guide open on a second monitor. It provides information only and does not automate any gameplay actions. That said, Riot's policies can change, and we recommend checking their latest terms if you have concerns.

Question 4

How does champion detection work?

Accepted Answer

During champion select, ARAM Companion captures your screen and uses optical character recognition (OCR) to identify which champions are available. It then cross-references this with our database to overlay tier ratings, win rates, and build recommendations directly on each champion portrait.

Question 5

Does it work with all regions?

Accepted Answer

Yes, ARAM Companion works with all League of Legends regions. Screen capture-based detection is region-independent.

Question 6

How often is champion data updated?

Accepted Answer

Champion tier data is updated with every League of Legends patch (approximately every 2 weeks). We analyze millions of ARAM matches to keep our rankings accurate and up-to-date.

Question 7

What are the system requirements?

Accepted Answer

Minimum: Windows 10 (64-bit), Intel Core i3 or AMD equivalent, 4GB RAM, League of Legends installed. Recommended: Windows 11 (64-bit), Intel Core i5 or AMD equivalent, 8GB RAM, SSD storage.

Question 8

Does ARAM Companion work with other game modes?

Accepted Answer

ARAM Companion is designed specifically for ARAM (Howling Abyss). It does not currently support Summoner's Rift, TFT, or other game modes. For TFT players, check out our sister tool TFT Vision (coming soon!).

Question 9

How do I install ARAM Companion?

Accepted Answer

Simply download the installer from our download page, run it, and follow the on-screen instructions. Launch ARAM Companion before starting a game — it works automatically from there!

Question 10

Does ARAM Companion impact game performance?

Accepted Answer

ARAM Companion is lightweight and designed to run with minimal system impact. It uses less than 2% CPU and under 200MB RAM on most systems. You shouldn't notice any FPS drops while it's running.

Question 11

Where does your data come from?

Accepted Answer

Our champion tier data is sourced from millions of analyzed ARAM matches via the Riot Games API and third-party analytics services like lolalytics.com. Augment and build data is derived from the same match analysis pipeline.

Question 12

Can I use ARAM Companion on macOS or Linux?

Accepted Answer

Currently, ARAM Companion is Windows-only. macOS and Linux support are on our roadmap but not yet available.
